Country music is returning to Merritt.

Organizers of the Rockin’ River Music Festival, which has had six successful years in Mission, announced the 2015 festival will take place at the site of the old Merritt Mountain Music Festival grounds.

Organizers are moving from the Mission Raceway Park to accommodate the event’s steady growth.

Attendance has hit as high as 26,000 over three days.

Past headliners include Blue Rodeo, Brad Paisley, Lonestar, Terri Clark, Travis Tritt and Aaron Pritchett.

This year, the festival will run for four days over the B.C. Day long weekend: from Thursday, July 30 to Sunday, Aug. 3, 2015.

Organizers said Merritt’s accessibility from other areas of the province was one of the reasons the site was chosen.

“This is a natural choice as Merritt is not only the home of a very well-established festival site and the home of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, it also known as the Country Music Capital of Canada and is located right in the heart of B.C.,” a press release from the Rockin’ River Music Festival states.
