Another fire broke out in the Nicola Valley on April 25, this one near Mamit Lake.

Fire information officer Jodie Lucius reported officials responded to the call and the two-hectare fire was quickly controlled.

“Our crews have already laid hose around the entire perimeter and they’re busy building guards in key areas,” she said. “So their not expecting any further growth or anything at this point and it sounded like the fire behaviour was pretty limited.”

Local business owner Julie Pollard was on scene yesterday afternoon, and stressed flare-ups like these can quickly get out of hand.

“That’s just how easy it can happen and how careful you’ve got to be.”
