Open burning is once again permitted in the Kamloops Fire Centre.

The Wildfire Management Branch lifted the open fire ban at noon on Oct. 15.

All fire zones within the Kamloops Fire Centre, including the Merritt Fire Zone, now permit waste, slash, stubble and grass burning, as well as burning barrels.

The Wildfire Management Branch reminds people conducting open burns to never leave them unattended; be mindful of windy conditions, buildings, trees and other combustible materials in the area; and have adequate resources on hand to put out a fire.
