CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story erroneously stated that the incident occurred on March 5. This version has been updated with the correct information.

A Logan Lake man is facing a charge of second degree murder following an incident at a local motel in Logan Lake on March 6.

Following up on a complaint to police in the morning of March 6, Logan Lake RCMP attended the motel where they found an unresponsive 55-year-old male in one of the rooms, stated a press release from the RCMP.

BC Ambulance and the local fire department attended the scene to provide medical aid to the man, but could not revive him.

The RCMP took 66-year-old Gordon Fleming into custody shortly after arriving on scene. He has now been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of the 55-year-old man, stated the release.

Police believe the accused and the deceased were known to each other, but are not releasing anymore information at this time.

Fleming is in custody and will appear in provincial court in Kamloops on March 7, 2018.

I enjoy reading the Merritt Herald. I live in Merritt and get the Merritt Herald delivered to our door. I once in a while like to get a “jump” on the local news by going on line. Or when we are away.
