The Merritt and District Tennis Club held its annual invitational doubles tournament on July 9 and 10. Neelam Sahota (left) was a two-time winner. She and partner Balwant Bains (in the background) defeated the team of Diane Quinn and Pavitar Dosanjh 9-8 (7-5 tie breaker) in the mixed doubles final on Sunday (July 10).
On July 9, Sahota partnered with Deanna Sheloff to win the ladies’ doubles event. They beat the Ashcroft team of Maria Martin Russell and Anna Ho 8-2 in the final.
Also on Saturday, the duo of Dosanjh and Amar Kanghura defeated the pairing of Andy Ghag and Jean Belleau 8-0 in the men’s doubles championship game.
Once again this year, several members of the Merritt and District Tennis Club will be attending the Sunshine Open tournament in Kamloops in August.
