Braves win 43rd annual Moccasin tournament
The host Quilchena Braves avenged an earlier loss to the Ashcroft Cowboys in the quarter-finals by defeating their arch rivals 7-4 in the championship game to win the 43rd annual Moccasin hockey tournament on the Feb. 10-12 weekend.
“We played our game,” stated Braves trainer Jim Billy. “We used our speed and skill to counter the Cowboy’s physical play. We stayed out of the penalty box, and capitalized on our powerplay.”
The Braves defeated the Morley Gorillaz from Alberta 6-4 to make it to the title game.
Four Braves were selected to the tournament all-star team: Drew Rose, Tyrell Turgeon, Curtis Cardinal, and goalie Boomer Sheena (shown below).
