An 11-year-old girl was shaken by an encounter with a suspicious looking man on Garcia Street on March 3.

Merritt RCMP are keeping an eye out for a caucasian male who looks to be approximately 35 years old, after the man asked the young girl multiple times if she wanted a ride home.

“She told him multiple times that she didn’t. He continued to harass her, asking her if she wanted a ride, said he’d take her all the way home,” said RCMP Const. Tracy Dunsmore.

The man was driving a silver four door Honda vehicle as he approached the girl on Garcia Street near the Merritt Public Library around 4 p.m. He was described as having blondish hair and blue eyes, added Dunsmore.

“We’ll be looking for any vehicles that match the description,” she said. “We’re just looking to locate or talk to that person and see what was on their mind.”

Anyone who has experienced similar issues are being asked to report them to the Merritt RCMP.
