An 18-year-old man from the Lower Mainland remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops following an accident Saturday afternoon (June 25).

The teen was riding in the flatbed of a pickup truck travelling around the Davis and Boss Lakes area of the Kane Valley, and ended up in a lake with the truck on top of him, RCMP Const. Tracy Dunsmore told the Herald.

The vehicle contained three other young men of similar age, including the driver who rolled the vehicle.

Dunsmore told the Herald the 28-year-old’s companions managed to pull him out from under the vehicle and conduct CPR. She said the man was revived by the time police arrived on scene.

She said she’s been informed by the hospital that the man is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

None of the other passengers nor the driver, who was issued a 24-hour roadside prohibition for alcohol, were injured in the crash.
