In our region, the Nicola Valley, there are roads that take motorists up into the high country grazing lands, past alpine forests and early homesteads.
Some go higher into sub-alpine forests, past pristine lakes and into undiscovered quiet places.
A copy of the “Thompson-Okanagan Back Road Mapbook” or Murphy Shewchuk’s “Coquihalla Trips and Trails” will guide you through this amazing wilderness.
From early May through July, wild flowers dot the hillsides and wooded areas. Most indigenous species are fragile and slow to multiply so please, just admire and photograph them.
