An RCMP member and costumed volunteers from the Community Policing Office were out on the street handing out reflective candy bags to drivers with children earlier this week. It’s part of an initiative to ensure trick-or-treating children stay safe and seen tonight.

Tips for parents:
• Ensure your children have something bright or reflective added to their costume;
• Travel in groups with your children or ensure older children have a buddy system;
• Check over treats before allowing children to enjoy them;
Tips for drivers:
• Slow down and expect the unexpected;
• Use caution when backing up to look for kids behind you;
• If your plans include alcohol, plan for a safe ride home.
