RCMP are investigating a homicide in Clearwater after a woman’s body was discovered in a home on Monday, April 21.
Police were doing a well-being check at the residence when they found the deceased woman.
A man was arrested that afternoon after a tense, seven-hour stand-off at another Clearwater home, which was surrounded by Mounties, RCMP emergency response members, and a police helicopter.
Three children were eventually released from the house unharmed.
The suspect is said to be the woman’s former partner and remains in custody.
The Southeast District Major Crime Unit is investigating. Police are recommending the man be charged with first-degree murder.
Clearwater is located about 200 kilometres north of Merritt.
