With the filming of an episode of ‘The Good Doctor’ wrapping up in Merritt, the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission says other film projects are on their way to the area soon.

According to Film Commissioner Victoria Weller, the feature film ‘Death Pursuit’ will begin filming sometime this month between the Merritt, Ashcroft, Cache Creek, and Spences Bridge areas. There are several other projects that are in line to take advantage of the rolling valleys and desert climate of the region as well, though they have not yet been given the green light.

‘Death Pursuit’ is set to be helmed by Director James Clayton, and starring Lina Lecompte, Shawn Madson, and Shane Laydon, according to the Internet Movie Database.

In Kamloops, the film production company Screen Siren Pictures is on schedule for August to shoot a feature film about a family of livestock auctioneers entitled ‘The Ringmen’.

Screen Siren Producers Christine Haebler and Trish Dolman have filmed in the region before.

“We are excited to be bringing projects to this region. We love shooting here!”, said Haebler, while Dolman said that the Thompson-Nicola region “is so beautiful and scenic.”

A call out is constantly being put out to local experienced film crew members to support these productions, and are asked to register in the online crew database at www.FilmThompsonNicola.com.

“We get calls from producers asking about our region’s local crew, and the amount of experienced crew directly impacts decisions if a production will film here or not,” said Weller. The TNFC is also seeking family homes in the area as locations and as rentals for actors and key crew members.

“All productions need houses as locations, and we want to hire local, so now’s the time to contact the film commission.”

‘The Good Doctor’ film crew was seen in the areas of the airport and Hamilton Hill between Mon. May 3 and Wed. May 5.
