B.C. is closing in on a milestone of 1,000,000 vaccinations for COVID-19, currently at 946,096. 87,504 have been second doses.

The Get Vaccinated online booking program, launched yesterday, has already seen 305,000 registrations.

People 70 and older, Indigenous peoples 18 and over, and individuals who have received their ‘clinically extremely vulnerable’ letter may now book appointments.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry gave the last day’s numbers in her daily press briefing.

There were 997 new cases of the virus in the last 24 hours, including 91 in Interior Health.

The Merritt area, meanwhile, saw six new cases between the dates of March 28 and April 3, a drop in the average recent weeks.

Two new deaths have occurred in B.C. over the last day, for a total of 1,491.
