BC has yet again broken its record for the highest number of COVID-19 cases in one day, with health officials announcing today that there are 941 new cases in BC.

11,037 COVID-19 tests were performed in BC in the last 24 hours, with the positivity rate now at 6.6%, a steep jump from early October’s 1.2%

49 of the 941 new cases are in the Interior Health region, with two patients in hospital but none in the ICU.

There is once again a double-digit death toll as 10 more people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total to 358.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, announced further restrictions this morning surrounding indoor fitness activities.

Under the new orders, dance studios, gymnastics centres, martial arts studios, yoga studios and any other spaces offering group indoor fitness activity across the province were ordered to temporarily suspend those activities.

Regular gyms may stay open and individual training may proceed.

“We need to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our province and that needs to happen now,” said Dr. Henry.

“That is why we have paused all gatherings, events and indoor group fitness activities. That is also why everyone, young and old, needs to pause their social interactions and increase their layers of protection and stay within their local communities as much as possible. We need to ease the pressure to allow us to get over this next hurdle, and importantly, give us the ability to once again enjoy those things that are important to all of us.”
