Three bighorn sheep wandered onto Highway 97 in West Kelowna and caused a traffic jam on Tuesday, June 30.

“West Kelowna RCMP were called out to Highway 97 near Butt Road just after 11:00 a.m., after a herd of three bighorn sheep decided to merge with traffic.” Reads a press release from West Kelowna RCMP.

A marked police vehicle provided them with an escort by following behind the group and slowing traffic until officers convinced them to leave the highway and return to the wilderness along the road.

“What has 12 legs and no traffic sense? A herd of three bighorn sheep!” the release joked.
