A 35-year-old man faces several charges following a shooting in which an innocent woman was shot in the arm.

Trevor Michael Wilvers was involved in an altercation with a 34-year-old male in the upstairs suite of a house in the 1700 block of Bruner Ave. when a gun was discharged. The bullet came through the floor and struck an innocent 25-year-old woman in the arm. Police were notified just before 6:20 p.m. that the innocent woman was in the suite with her 32-year-old husband and five-year-old daughter at the time.

The woman was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Wilvers, who was previously well-known to police for violent offences, drug-related offences, and property crimes, was arrested by police around 11:20 a.m. without incident in a Valleyview area motel.

A 19-year-old woman in the upstairs suite was taken into the RCMP detachment for questioning. The details surrounding the men’s argument remain unclear, but the investigation to date suggests that the men knew each other.

? Assault

? Uttering Threats

? Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm without a licence

? Use of a Firearm While Committing an Indictable Offence

He will remain in custody until a future court appearance.
