Merritt residents in Phase 4 of the Return Home Plan are now granted day access to their property today and moving forward, daily from 7a.m.-7p.m.

This day access may be suspended pending weather forecasting and river level activity.

Water in the Phase 4 zone must not be used for any reason, including flushing toilets, and remains under a “do not consume” advisory.

The goal to lift the Evacuation Order for Phase 4 is still unknown.

“We want to ensure people still have ESS support if they are not able to live in their homes,” said Mayor Linda Brown. “There are still some hazardous areas, and we ask people who are accessing their homes to take all appropriate precautions, and keep away from damaged streets and any risks around your home.”

First responders and emergency vehicles may not be able to easily access all areas within the Phase 4 zone.
