The City of Merritt Public Works Department Project to revitalize Granite Avenue and Garcia Street is nearly completed. The projected completion date is Nov. 30.

This project has been a successful partnership between the province and the City of Merritt.

Through the $300,000 in resources provided by the Towns for Tomorrow grant program, we have been able to leverage the City of Merritt’s own resources of $141,000 to fulfill the 2005 City Centre Plan to improve the walkways and roadways in our downtown core.

By adding trees, garbage bins, street lighting and a wider intersection, pedestrian and vehicular traffic and safety will be improved with an increase in the flow of people and cars to our downtown businesses.
