Fast-paced midget lacrosse competition takes centre stage this weekend with the 4th annual Thunder in the Valley tournament Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Shulus arena.

A total of eight teams from around B.C. will be taking part in the event. In addition to the host Nicola Valley Thunder, they include the North Okanagan Legends and Kamloops Jr. Rattlers from the Interior, along with Coquitlam, Surrey, Chilliwack and two teams from Ridge Meadows.

The tournament begins on Friday at 3:30 pm and runs through until the conclusion of the gold-medal game at 3:30 pm on Sunday.

There will be a skills competition on Saturday from 2 – 3 pm.

The local Thunder midgets are coached by Q101.1 radio personality Graham Turnbull, a former goaltender in the Thompson-Okanagan Junior B league. Assistant coach is Will Clinging.

The Thunder are in tough this weekend with quite a young line-up and a rather short bench. They will need to rely on strong team defense and a lot of hustle and discipline.
