Kamloops Fire Centre is relaxing fire bans due to cool, wet spring conditions. Effective noon (12 p.m.) on Friday, June 19 the following will once again be permitted, subject to municipal regulations, throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction:

  • Category 2 open fires as defined by the Wildfire Regulation;
  • Resource management open fires as defined in the Wildfire Regulation;
  • Fireworks;
  • Sky Lanterns; and,
  • Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description

Campfires continue to be permitted, but Category 3 open fires will still be prohibited.

“Considering weather patterns and the time of year, the BC Wildfire Service has identified an opportunity to allow Category 2 open burning throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre,” reads a statement from the BC Wildfire Service.

“Ongoing assessment of the need for prohibitions is occurring.”
