DriveBC is reporting that there is a high avalanche hazard between Exit 173: Old Hope Princeton Way and Allison Pass Summit. The road is closed in both directions with an update not expected until 3:00PM this afternoon.
A travel advisory had previously been issued for the route at 11:26AM regarding winter driving conditions and asking that motorists avoid non-essential travel.
DriveBC also advises that motorists be prepared for winter driving conditions regardless of which route they travel, and to be prepared to shelter in place by carrying extra food, water and warm clothing in case of closures, delays and congestion.
