In a significant drop from recent numbers, only 14 new cases of COVID-19 have been found in B.C. over the last 24 hours.

It represents the lowest number in weeks.

Provincial Health Officer Bonnie Henry did not give her usual digital press briefing on Thursday, but a statement was released in the late afternoon.

However, the Province had three more deaths, for a total of 78 deaths in British Columbia.

An Interior Health long-term care facility also confirmed a new outbreak: Kootenay Street Village, in Cranbrook.

It was also confirmed today that an inmate has died during an outbreak at the Mission Institution, the first case of a prison death in B.C.

Three more cases were also found in the Interior.

670 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 630 are in the Fraser Health region, 94 are in the Island Health region, 149 are in the Interior Health region and 32 are in the Northern Health region.

That brings B.C.’s total number to 1,575, though 983 have fully recovered.

“Our shared efforts to flatten the curve make a difference. Each day that we hold the line, we are stronger and better for it.”
