Editor,

If you’re a ‘senior’ (i.e. 55 years or older), you may participate in the BC Seniors Games in Kelowna Sept. 10 to 14. And Merritt needs you to represent it!

While many activities already have participants who want to represent Merritt and the Nicola Valley, there are several sports and senior activities that, so far, don’t appear to have folks on board.

So, if you do archery, badminton, bocce, carpet bowling, road cycling, darts, dragon boat, equestrian, fast pitch, five pin bowling, ice hockey, horseshoes, lawn bowling, slo pitch, snooker, soccer, squash, sturling (stick curling), swimming, table tennis, track and field or triathlon, we need you to contact us.

You can go to the B.C. Senior Games Society website to get particulars for your activity. Then email Felicity Peat, recreation programmer at the city at [email protected] and give your contact info. You’ll be informed of what we’re doing to get Merritt well represented in Kelowna.

With a few months to go before the games, there is still time for local seniors to pick up a sport they might not be familiar with, and still compete in Kelowna in September. – Editor
