Editor,

I would like to express my support to the mayor of Merritt for his stand on crosswalks in the town.

The colour of all crosswalks should stay neutral so that everybody there (including visitors) feel good and are not offended by something that is controversial and only for small group of people. Why should minority dictate to majority?

On the other hand the crosswalk is an official traffic and road sign and should not be manipulated and changed to the liking of anybody.

Editor,

It seems to me that using the word inclusion/inclusiveness has about run its course. It has been used in just about every situation and has no meaning anymore especially in the diatribe regarding the so-called rainbow crosswalk. I am more than fed up with small interest groups who contribute nothing to the community per se except to change the fabric of a community.

I notice that this whole conundrum has been downgraded from gay pride to pride to rainbow crosswalk. Congrats to city council — now can we have a more sane discussion on potholes?
