A white Ford F550 dump truck was recovered after being stolen from a West Kelowna garden nursery.

Logan Lake RCMP officers were dispatched on May 4, 2021 just before 9:30a.m. to an area alongside Highway 97C between Ashcroft and Logan Lake to investigate a broken down vehicle.

An alert security guard for a private company grew suspicious upon seeing the truck in the northbound lanes of 97C, and called the nursery that was displayed in a number of decals on the vehicle.

The security guard took the exceptional step to contact the business directly and was able to determine that the dump truck had in fact been stolen overnight, states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesman for the BC RCMP in the Southeast District. Armed with a description of the suspect who walked away from the dumped stolen dump truck towards Ashcroft, Logan Lake RCMP officers located and arrested him without incident.

Breaking and entering tools were found on the man at the time of his arrest. These tools were a breach in one of his conditions of release related to a previous incident near Williams Lake.

The 22-year old was once again released on additional restrictions, and faces a number of charges when he makes his first appearance in Merritt court on July 20, 2021.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or have any dash camera footage of the dump truck or the suspect and have not yet spoken to police you are asked to call the Logan Lake RCMP at 250-523-6222.
