For the third year in a row, the Merritt Centennials will wear a special third jersey in a bid to raise awareness and funds to support mental health organizations.
This year’s beneficiary is the Ty Pozzobon Foundation, the charity set up in memory of Merritt’s champion bull rider Ty Pozzobon, who took his life in 2017 after struggling with history of sport-related concussions.
The ‘Live Like Ty’ jerseys will feature the foundation’s logo on a black background, with white and green striping. Twenty-four jerseys are being auctioned online, with bidding set to close at 8 p.m. on March 29.
In addition to all of the current Centennials, a special Pozzobon jersey bearing his signature #23 is up for grabs.
The Centennials will debut the jerseys at the team’s final home game of the regular season on Feb. 23 against the Vernon Vipers.
