The Merritt area saw 43 new cases of COVID-19 between Sept. 26-Oct. 2, almost doubling the previous week’s results.

The BC CDC’s latest report indicates that Merritt is back into the highest bracket of average daily rate per 100,000 population in the province, at >20.0. They are joined in this bracket, indicated on the CDC’s weekly map as a crimson red, by the surrounding locations of Kamloops (226 new cases), South Cariboo (12), and Salmon Arm (60).

Merritt saw 23 cases the previous week.

Central Okanagan, most prominently Kelowna, saw a drop of 55 cases from the week before, down to 223. Vernon showed 64 new cases of COVID-19, Hope had eleven new cases, while Princeton saw just two.

The only region of the BC Interior to see no new cases of the virus was Kootenay Lake.
