Harry Potter fans, unite: the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts is being celebrated by the TNRD libraries.

Both the HP anniversary and Star Wars Day will be celebrated virtually, through the STEAM program and the Maker program.

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths. Books can be considered STEAM books if they focus on those aspects of learning as well as programs.  Maker programs are any activity that involves using your hands.

“STEAM and Maker programs are part of the backbone of library programming for older children and tweens,” said Kaylea Prime, Branch Head of the Clearwater Library. “We’re excited to bring these popular components of in-house library programs to the TNRL virtual experience. Encouraging children to engage in activities that promote science, technology, arts and math at home through fandoms will amplify their excitement – and is a great way to start!”

Both videos will be shared on the library’s Facebook page, “Thompson-Nicola Regional Library”.

The videos are best suited for those age 6-12, though of course, anyone can view them.
