Merritt RCMP executed a search warrant at a local residence yesterday afternoon, which resulted in three arrests and a seizure of illicit drugs.

“On December 23, 2020 Merritt RCMP executed a search warrant on a Merritt residence,” said Cpl. Derrick Francis of the Merritt detachment.

“The warrant was granted for the search of a known drug house. The Merritt RCMP have been called to this house on a number of previous occasions. During the entry into the residence three males were arrested inside. Large quantities of crystal meth, crack cocaine, heroin and fentanyl were seized. The amount of drugs seized would be the equivalent to approximately 5,000 individual doses. Along with the drugs a loaded handgun was seized. The Merritt RCMP are very concerned with the increase in firearms being located at local drug houses.

“Charges are expected to be laid against the males that include drug trafficking and firearms related offenses.”

More information to come at a later date.
