The Evac Order for the City of Merritt will most likely last more than a week, said a Nov. 16 press release.
City officials provided a brief update, adding that although the flood waters have rescinded, they still provide significant danger to the community.
A list was provided of some important items currently being worked on:
- The security of the municipality
- Supporting rescue efforts of residents
- Identification and planning of infrastructure (turning on water and wastewater at the earliest opportunity)
- Infrastructure damage review.
If residents have not yet evacuated, a bus is leaving from the Merritt ESS Centre at 1950 Mamette Avenue at approximately noon today.
