Merritt RCMP have released a media report informing citizens of what has kept their officers busy, including new charges and a court outcome.

Merritt woman charged for committing a home invasion.

On November 8, 2021, Merritt RCMP front line officers were called to an apartment building on Quilchena Avenue after a woman had allegedly broken into an apartment wielding a baton and assaulting the lone resident inside. The incident was caught on surveillance cameras and the woman responsible was identified as another resident of the building. Officers located the woman and arrested her.

On February 8, 2022, Ms. Randi Lynn Tancsa was charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling house, assault with a weapon, possess weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief. She is set to appear in Merritt Court on February 15, 2022.

Kamloops man pleaded guilty to stealing a vehicle.

On May 18, 2021, Merritt RCMP front line officers responded to a vehicle that had crashed into the centre median on Hwy 5 near Merritt. Through investigation officers determined the vehicle was stolen and the driver was arrested without incident.

On February 9, 2022, Mr. Patrick Lafferty pleaded guilty to one count of theft of a motor vehicle. He received one day in jail, was credited 90 days pre-sentence time and twelve months probation.
