One of B.C.’s most prominent outbreak of COVID-19 continues to see their numbers climb, at the Mission prison.
Five new cases have been announced, for a total of 75, of which 64 are inmates.
Some are calling for certain inmates to be released to try to curb the spread. Mission Institution is a minimum-security federal institution.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced the new numbers at her daily press briefing Monday.
23 new cases of the coronavirus were announced Province-wide over the last 24 hours.
It marks an increase of three cases in the Interior, for a total of 153. In other B.C. health regions:
Vancouver: 700 (686 on Saturday)
Fraser: 705 (661 on Saturday)
Island: 102 (97 on Saturday)
North: 39 (34 on Saturday)
The total number of cases in the Province has reached 1,699. Two more deaths were announced, for a total of 86.
