The number of British Columbians in hospital and in intensive care units from COVID-19 continue to rise.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has announced that there are currently 9,937 active cases, with 368 in hospital, 121 of whom are which are in intensive care units.

That measures an increase of 50 patients in hospital than last week, and 25 more in ICU than last week.

Dr. Henry also followed her regular Monday routine in providing the number of new COVID-19 cases for each 24 hour period since Friday:

Fri-Sat: 1,283

Sat-Sun: 1,036

Sun-Mon: 970.

That adds up to a total of 3,289 new cases since Friday, for an overall total of 112,829 cases since the pandemic began.

299 of the new cases over the weekend were in Interior Health.

18 new deaths were recorded from the virus, all in hospital. There have been a total of 1,513 deaths across the province.

So far, 1,112,101 vaccinations have been administered in B.C., of which over 80,000 were second doses.
