British Columbia hit a mark not seen in weeks in the pandemic: no new deaths over the last 24 hours.

162 people have died of the coronavirus in total

We want to be able to do this every day,” said Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry in her daily update on Tuesday.

Eleven new B.C. residents have tested positive for COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing B.C.’s total to 2,541.

There are no new cases that have been discovered in the Interior.

There are 258 active cases known across the province, with 37 in hospital.

There are no new health care outbreaks, and no new community outbreaks.

Despite the constantly lowering numbers trending recently, Dr. Henry said that now that we are in Phase 2 of the reopening plan, there may be a period of rising numbers once more.

“That’s what we in public health are preparing for.

She continues to urge the public to follow the rules set out in Phase 2.

“We can’t go back to a period where we allow the virus to take off.”
