After an astonishing amount of snowfall on Monday, Merritt’s Public Works department is asking residents not to park on the street overnight Tuesday.
On Dec. 23 from 4a.m.-10a.m., parking on the street in the downtown core will be prohibited so that the city can remove some of the accumulated snow closer to the sidewalks.
Streets will have limited access starting at 9a.m.
Over 15cm of snow fell on the Merritt area throughout the day on Jan. 21, falling throughout the day into the late evening. The heavy snowfall caused the Coquihalla to be shut down for hours between Merritt and Hope.
