The number of people in ICU for the coronavirus dropped Wednesday to 19, falling below 20 for the first time since March 24.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced the latest numbers are her daily update. The number of people in hospital is 74.

The announced new number of ICU cases is a drop of two from Tuesday.

Dr. Henry also announced 23 new cases of COVID-19 in the Province, though most are in the Fraser region.

While only two were confirmed in the Interior during Dr. Henry’s daily update, 15 new cases were confirmed in Fraser Health.

Breaking down the other health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal, three additional
  • Vancouver Island 124, same
  • Northern, three additional

This brings the total to 2,255 positive cases that have occurred in B.C.

Three more deaths were announced, bringing the Provincial total to 124. All were seniors, and none were in the Interior.
