Donald Evans Smith

November 23, 1932- June 22, 2023

We are sad to announce the death of Donald Evans Smith on June 22, 2023.

He will be fondly remembered by many as a Hardworking, Kind, Honest, Gentle man.

In Personality, he was a Pensive Man yet always willing to take the time to listen with interest, quick to share your joys coupled with his Generous personal compliments.

His life choices and conversation clearly indicated that his relationship with his Creator was dear to his heart. Don kept his promise to his creator to remain faithful as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses until his last breath, confident that he will be awakened to regain his strength and vigor.

The History of the 90 years of his life could write its own novel, but in short he was born November 23, 1932 in Fillmore, Saskatchewan into a large family of 11 who predeceased him as well as his parents William and Beatrice Smith

In 1952 He married Adrienne and together they had their daughter Pamela – they were married for 30 years until Adrienne’s demise.

In 1987 He married Sharon and shared the remainder of his days with her for 36 years, he was well loved and respected by his new family.

Don was a man of many trades and worked within Vancouver district on Tugboats, with the Forestry along the Sunshine Coast,in construction as a Drywaller as well as Coquitlam and New Westminster School Boards . Don always enjoyed taking pride and interest in whatever work he put his hands to. After retirement , Sharon and Don took on the task of building two of their houses together in Logan Lake and  Merritt BC, enjoying good friendships with many and serving as active ministers of Jehovah’s Witnesses within those communities.

Survived by his loving wife of 36 years Sharon Rosemary Smith and his only daughter Pamela Stewart (Robert Stewart) along with their children ,Andrew (Allison) Lance (Santana) and Arielle (Calvin) and 6 Great Grandchildren.  Step-children: Louise (Glenn), Louis (Barbara),Lawrence(Susan) and Lorne(Shannon).  Step-grandchildren: Brook(Camille), Ashley(Channing), Clayton(Cassandra), Joshua (Victoria), Jared Danielle, and Morgan.

Those who knew Don know he did not like to be fussed over or be the center of attention therefore as per his wishes ,there will be no memorial service.

But if Don was able to have the last word to us, in his dry witty humor along with his mischievous smile and a twinkle in his eye, it would be:

“ See you in the Funny Papers!”

In remembrance of Don please enjoy his favorite scripture in Psalm 37:29 “The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it “.
