From June 27-July 3, the City of Merritt saw one new positive case of COVID-19.

The BC CDC released its weekly report of the number of new cases within each region of British Columbia on Wednesday.

It is the first time in three weeks that Merritt has seen a new positive test.

That puts Merritt in the rate of 0.1-5.0 daily cases per 100,000 population, the same bracket as both Kamloops and Kelowna.

Kamloops saw eleven new cases, while Kelowna recorded 47.

In other surrounding areas, both the South Cariboo and Princeton had no new positive reports.

The only surrounding area that saw a higher rate per 100,000 population than Merritt, Kamloops and Kelowna was Hope. Hope had six new positives for a rate of 5.1-10.0 daily cases per 100,000 population, which is still considerably low.
