Merritt RCMP are seeking information from the public after a truck struck a youth riding a bicycle and drove off.

Police responded to the hit and run in Diamond Vale on Thursday, Aug. 18 at approximately 4:20 a.m.

According to a press release from Merritt RCMP Sgt. David Nassichuk, a 16-year-old male was riding his bicycle on Douglas Street at the intersection of Clapperton Avenue when he was struck by what he described as a white pickup truck. The driver of the truck did not stop after hitting him.

“The young male suffered serious injuries to his leg and was transported to the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops for treatment,” said Nassichuk.
