They’re champions!
The Merritt Ramada peewees have won the B.C. Tier 3 peewee rep hockey title, thanks to a thrilling 4-1 victory over Whitehorse in the gold-medal game, played Friday afternoon in West Vancouver.
“The team came out ready to play,” reported team manager Jodi Graham from West Van on Friday. “They built a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Missy McDonnell, Breanna Ouellet and Matthew Newman.
“The second period was scoreless with lots of penalties. Max Graham extended Merritt’s lead to 4-0 in the third, before Whitehorse tallied with just two minutes left in regulation. Merritt assists went to Newman (2), Ouellet and Graham.
“Manjot Panghli stood strong in net for Merritt making 24 saves to pick up the win,” Graham said. “The team played an amazing game. Their defence was unreal all week. A true team effort.”
