The Merritt RCMP arrested four individuals on Monday after a BB gun assault left one man hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Front line officers from Merritt’s RCMP detachment attended the Nicola Valley Hospital to receive a report of a man who had allegedly been held down and shot multiple times in the face and arms with a BB gun.

“Four suspects were taken into custody and a search warrant was executed by our General Investigation Section where it is alleged the assault occurred,” said Cst. Jon Puterbough with the Merritt RCMP.

The alleged offence took place in the 2700 block of Clapperton Avenue, where officers carried out their warrant on May 9 after taking the suspects into custody.

Police believe that the incident was no chance encounter, with Puterbough adding that “the incident is believed to be targeted as the victim and suspects were known to each other.”

Those with any information regarding this incident who have not yet spoken with police should contact the Merritt RCMP at (250) 378-4262.
