It is the beginning of a new year or law and order for the Merritt RCMP detachment, and Sergeant Josh Roda says members have been busy in this first week.

“It has been a good start to 2021 for us here at the Detachment,” said Roda.

“Our units are catching up on all their work from the snowstorms that plagued us here in Merritt and on the Coquihalla Highway at the end of 2020.”

Following a bust of a known drug house in which an illegal handgun was seized, along with illicit drugs such as crystal meth, crack cocaine, heroin and fentanyl in large quantities, Merritt RCMP are busy preparing charge recommendations.

“Our GI Section is putting together charge recommendations to Crown Counsel for the drug house that was kicked recently on Granite Avenue, and we are looking forward to what the new year will bring.”
