The Province of BC is going to start occasionally updating a regional, more detailed map of where COVID-19 is in the province.

“Virtually every part of our province has been touched by COVID-19,” said Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

A newly released map shows that the Merritt area has seen cases at a rate of six positive cases per 100,000 population since January, particularly low compared to other areas of the province.

The province now feels that it has the data available to give such updates.

Dr. Henry announced 63 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours in her daily press briefing.

None of the new cases were identified in the Interior, leaving Interior Health’s total number of cases at 429.

As has usually been the case, most new cases are in Fraser Health and Vancouver Health.

No new deaths were announced.
