A rodeo in Deadman Creek offered senior rodeo athletes one final chance to earn enough points to qualify for the BC High School Finals.

Merritt’s Troy Holmes and his partner Patrick Bennett (from Kamloops) punched their tickets in team roping with a third place finish on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Vanessa Michel picked up two fourth place finishes in goat tying to secure her spot at the B.C. finals.

Bryce Garcia finished up the weekend as the top all-around cowboy, after finishing second in tie down roping on Saturday and sixth on Sunday.

Finally, the team of Tryton Bose and Bryce Garcia finished first in team roping on Sunday to go along with a third place finish on Saturday.

The BC High School Finals are set for June 7 to 9 in Fort St. John. The top athletes will move on to the Canadian High School Finals, which will return to Merritt from July 26 to 28.
