Merritt’s Roger Sloan is now only a few spots out of a spot in the PGA’s FedEx Cup playoffs, after a solo sixth finish at the Barracuda Championship.

The golfer finished the Truckee, California tournament with a solid six under 65 on Sunday, finishing with 40 points in a modified point-based scoring format that favoured more aggressive play than the usual scoring format. He finished ten points behind winner Erik van Rooyen.

With the finish, he was able to move up six spots on the FedEx Cup playoff list, from 137 to 131. That still leaves him just shy of earning a playoff berth and securing his Tour card for next season, needing to finish within the top 125.

Only one event remains on the PGA’s regular season schedule – the Wyndham Championship out of North Carolina this coming weekend. It will be Sloan’s last chance to earn that coveted place within the top 125.

For his solo sixth finish, he earned himself a paycheck of $126,875.
