Merritt’s Roger Sloan is heading into the weekend at the Sanderson Farms Championship on the leaderboard.

The PGA pro, playing in his second tournament of the 2021-22 season after a missed cut two weeks back at the Fortinet Championship, finished his Friday round at 11-under par at the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi.

In the first round on Thursday, Sloan had a near-flawless eighteen holes, carding just one bogey on the eighth hole to land at six-under.

He had similar results in Friday’s second round, missing a short par putt on the eleventh hole for his only bogey of the day. An almost 18-foot birdie putt on the seventeenth hole secured a successful day.

With only a few players left on the course following the end of Sloan’s round, he sits in solo sixth place on the leaderboard, the top Canadian.

American Will Zalatoris leads the charge at 13-under, with Sloan just two shots shy of the pace.

This week’s PGA tournament carries a purse of $6.6-million, with a winner’s share of $1.188-million.

Sloan is still chasing his first PGA victory.
