On July 18, 2020 Merritt RCMP received a tip from a resident regarding a stolen vehicle out of Kelowna that had been spotted in Merritt the previous two nights.

Merritt detachment members stopped the vehicle on Hwy. 5 north of Merritt and took the driver into custody.

28-year-old Michael Dennison of no fixed address in Kamloops was the sole occupant of the vehicle and is charged with five Criminal Code charges, including three counts of possession of stolen property, driving while disqualified and breach of probation.

As the investigation progresses it is expected that additional charges will be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service.

Dennison remains in custody and will appear in Provincial court on Tuesday, July 21.
