Tipping fees for customers disposing of demolition, land-clearing and construction waste in one load are doubling effective July 1 at all Thompson-Nicola Regional District waste facilities.

The fee for tipping a combination of contaminated wood waste, clean wood waste, asphalt singles and concrete and asphalt waste will be raised to $120 per tonne.

However, that’s only for commingled waste. If the waste is separated into appropriate streams, the old $60 per tonne fee applies.

The bylaw sets out another increase for commingled demolition and construction waste on Jan. 1, 2015 to $160 per tonne.

Household refuse fees will increase to $80 per tonne and other waste streams will be $100 per tonne as of Jan. 1, 2015 as well.
