The TNRD has announced a new emergency alerting system for residents.

The system officially launched last Thursday, in a move to proactively get people the information they need during an emergency.

Voyent Alert is the company and the application used to run the program, with the TNRD following in the footsteps of a multitude of other communities around BC.

“The notification system will be used for evacuation alerts and orders during emergency events, and to send advisories to residents on the TNRD’s community water systems. We’re encouraging everyone in the region to take a moment to sign up, because only those registered will receive the notifications from the alerting system,” said Michelle Nordstrom, Manager of Communications and Marketing.

The mobile application can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play. Those who don’t download the app can sign up for email, SMS, or voice dialing alerts via register.voyent-alert.com.

The TNRD’s office officially reopened on Friday following about a three-month closure, open to residents by appointment only.
