Merritt RCMP are assisting the Southeast District Traffic Service in the investigation of a fatal collision that took place on the Okanagan Connector yesterday afternoon.
“A 62 year-old female from Surrey, BC was travelling eastbound on Hwy 97C in a black sedan when she appears to have lost control, hit the centre median causing the vehicle to roll,” Sgt. Janelle Shoihet wrote to the Herald in an email. “The driver and only occupant was pronounced dead at the scene by BC Emergency Health Services.”
The highway remained open, with minor interruptions caused by the closure of one lane in either direction, Shoihet added.
